Richard was invited to direct 2nd Unit on several episodes of the popular series “Strikeback”. The series focuses on a team of special operatives working for a secretive unit of British military intelligence. This latest series, part of which Richard shot in Thailand, sees Sullivan Stapleton and Philip Winchester return as ‘Section 20’ operatives.

 

The plots, often based around real terrorist events, have been described as “..muscular yet surprisingly intelligent action drama,” while one critic noted “The chemistry between Winchester and Stapleton is a treat, the action scenes remain brutal and thrilling and fun, and the show transcends simple guilty pleasure status by paying enough attention to the emotional toll this kind of work takes”.

 

The cast also included ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’ star Michelle Yeoh, Will Yun Lee (The Wolverine & Die Another Day), Max Beasley (Suits & Mad Dogs) and British Mixed Martial Arts champion Michael Bisping.
